PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment) is an intensive and highly integrated approach for community mental health service delivery. The multidisciplinary team shares a caseload of individuals who experience symptoms of the most serious forms of mental illness, predominantly but not exclusively the schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Many individuals also experience substance abuse, victimization and trauma, psychiatric hospitalizations, arrests and incarceration, homelessness, and additional significant challenges. The symptoms and complications of mental illnesses lead to serious functioning difficulties in several areas of life, often including work, social relationships, residential independence, money management, and physical health and wellness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including mental health professionals, nurses, prescribers, peer counselors, SUD specialists, and vocational staff.
  • Deliver recovery-oriented services such as case management, treatment planning, resource assistance, crisis intervention, and group/individual services.
  • Assist clients in identifying and accessing resources and collaborate with community resources on behalf of clients.
  • Assist clients in the development of healthy coping mechanisms in individual or group settings.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop and implement safety plans, and provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed, including facilitating access to inpatient facilities for behavioral health care.
  • Provide ongoing support to clients in their homes and community environments.
  • Participate in the 24/7 on-call rotation and deliver after-hours support as needed.

This position requires regular driving and mobility in community settings. 

Compensation Range based on YOE starting at $136,984.00-$157,453.00

Position Summary

Provides outpatient psychiatric services including, but not limited to, consultation, evaluation, medication management, and follow-up. Supports various clinical teams which could include clinicians, integrated mental health therapists, peer support specialists, collaborative care teams, primary care providers, allied support staff and others. If working in the psychiatric consultant role will advise the primary care providers on appropriate medications and other treatment strategies, also providing the care team with educational support on diagnosing and managing behavioral health conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management and follow-up for scheduled or standby patients.
  • Provides and receives effective consultation, internally and externally, to coordinate patient care effectively.
  • Completes all required documentation within timeframes specified in the MultiCare Health System Ambulatory Electronic Health Record Completion policy.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and efforts toward meeting the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and other agency meetings as requested.
  • Provides back-up coverage for absent medical staff as needed.
  • Provide regularly scheduled caseload consultation to Mental Health Therapist.
  • Requires adherence to practice standards, agency standards, contracts, and Washington Administrative Codes.
  • May supervise graduate medical students (nurse practitioner students, residents).
  • Expert knowledge of psychotropic medications.
  • Excellent assessment, evaluation, and clinical skills
  • Demonstrate effective de-escalation skills. 

Requirements

  • Meets state of Washington licensure requirements by the time of employment.
  • Advanced Reg Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority license - Washington Department of Health. 
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Across the Lifespan) Certification (PMHNP-BC™) or if one of the following active certifications (available for renewal only).
    • Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP-BC)
    • Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification (PMHCNS-BC)
    • Child/Adolescent Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification (PMHCNS-BC)
  • Current Health Care Provider level BLS certification such as American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $136,984.00 - $185,795.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
